Wednesday night’s academic recognition for our K-8 students was so much fun. We had 92 people at the event, which honored students who met their academic goals in mathematics and reading. Thank you to Ms. Palenske and Ms. McMullen for arranging this event and to the School Board who was in attendance to help recognize the hard work of these scholars.

Make Up Days/Time at KHS. As the threat of inclement weather and power outages are in the rear view mirror, we have done our analysis of whether there is a need to make up school time. At Knappa High School, we have not met the state established minimum instructional time requirements for this year. Accordingly, I will be recommending to the School Board that we make up one day of school to occur on June 14, 2023. That means that June 13 will be a full day for high school students and June 14 will be a half-day.

We are excited for the arrival of spring in Knappa Schools! Baseball, and Softball are in full swing (no pun intended) now, with both high school teams participating in tournaments during the break... Knappa Schools Foundation will host its dinner/auction on April 22. The Foundation supports students with all kinds of learning opportunities and acts as a critical support to supplement programs in our school system... This month, we anticipate taking delivery of two new school buses. Both are partially financed through a DEQ grant because they replace diesel buses that did not have modern anti-pollution equipment.

As we enter the final week before spring break, things are busy in the Knappa School District. High school sports are off to a good start with the baseball team’s decisive win last week against Warrenton and the softball team’s solid win in their game against Neah-Kah-Nie on Friday.

What a busy week it has been in our schools. This week we celebrated Classified Employee Appreciation Week, where we honored our bus drivers, kitchen staff, office staff, program assistants, custodians, maintenance employees, and our bus mechanic. They are key to our ability to educate students and keep them safe.
